Israeli forgives taxi driver who stole his luggage, money

A taxi driver cried because of the kindness shown to him by an Israeli national tourist after he forgave him despite the fact that he stole his luggage and money.

In a report by John Consulta in “24 Oras” this Wednesday, a CCTV camera shot showed the victim Hever Ben-Horin getting off the taxi to ask a question at a hotel in Makati City on the night of February 6, 2023.

But instead of waiting for the foreigner, the taxi driven by Rudy Vihil left. It carries all the foreigner’s belongings including a passport and money up to $2,000.

“Umalis na agad yung taxi, nandyan yung malalaking bagahe na malaki, nandyan yun laptop niya, nandun yung pera niya,” said Police Colonel Edward Cutiyog, Makati Chief of Police.

During the police operation, the taxi was traced to a house in Cainta, Rizal. The suspect was arrested and the foreigner’s belongings were also found.

“Agad po tayo nagsagawa ng follow up investigation, nung matukoy kung nasaan ang taxi, agad tayo nagsagawa ng follow up operation,” said Southern Police District (SPD) Director Police Brigadier General Kirby John Kraft.

At first, Vihil pleaded that he did not know that he had taken the victim’s luggage. But at the precinct, he admitted that he was tempted.

But instead of being charged, the police were surprised when the victim suddenly forgave the driver.

The taxi driver cried because of the kindness shown to him by his victim.

The foreigner’s reason for not filing a complaint is, “If God can forgive him, who am I not to forgive this guy. I want to give him a second chance.”

The suspect admitted that what he did was wrong and said that he will not repeat what he promised Hever himself.
