Military officials confirmed that two hostages have been decapitated by IS Group jihadists in the hills of Butig, Lanao del Sur on Monday.
Military officials said that the bodies of two hostages, along with their heads, were received on Tuesday.
The victims, one Salvador Hanobas, known as “Tado”, and Makol Hanobas, know as “Macky” were kidnapped on April 4, along with four other sawmill workers. The other workers were later released, but Salvador and Makol were held by their captors.
The captors had identified themselves as part of the Dawlah Islamiyah (Islamic State) in Lanao. Local leaders of the MILF negotiated the release of the previous four sawmill workers.
The IS Group accused the victims of spying for the government – military officials however insist that no spy operation was ordered against them.
