Isko Moreno declares ‘health break’ in class in Manila

Public and private schools will be closed in Manila from January 14 to 21, 2022, after Manila Mayor Isko Moreno declared a “health break” due to the high COVID-19 case in the city.

At the news conference, Moreno said there is no school at all levels to alleviate the concerns of teachers, students, and parents due to the rising COVID-19 case.

“The city of Manila declares a health break starting tomorrow January 14 to 21, wala pong pasok, whether online or physical classes, all levels para magka-health break naman ang lahat,” the mayor said.

Moreno hopes a week-long health break will help teachers, students, and parents who have experienced the illness recover.

Meanwhile, Moreno also signed Executive Order No. 4 Series of 2022, which prohibits public gatherings in connection with the upcoming celebration of the Santo Niño feast.

Mass gatherings such as processions, street parties, stage shows, parades, street games, and “ati-atihan” are prohibited.

Niño,” he said.

Mayor Isko Moreno also told barangay officials not to hold street games in their respective constituencies.

The city will enforce a liquor ban in connection with the celebration.

The mayor also said the vaccination drive-thru for four-wheel vehicles at the Quirino Grandstand in Rizal Park is open 24 hours starting Friday.

“We decided tomorrow, simula 12 a.m. mamayang madaling araw, ang booster vaccination drive-thru caravan ng City of Manila will be made available 24 hours,” he said.

“Hindi na kayo kakabahan baka ma-cutoff kayo. This is our first day and we went beyond doon sa minimum requirement.
