Isko Moreno asks Robredo to withdraw candidacy

Manila Mayor Isko Moreno called on Vice President Leni Robredo to drop her presidential bid on Sunday, claiming she was simply running to keep the Marcos family out of Malacanang.

In a joint press conference, Moreno reintroduced himself as a viable choice for Filipinos seeking “peace of mind.”

“On top of your problem, our problem as a country and as a citizen at problema ng ating pamilya araw-araw, at the very least I can give you peace of mind–kapanatagan. Time to move on,” Moreno said.

“Kung meron mang supreme sacrifice, ‘yung number 2 (sa survey) should do and start. Let Leni withdraw. Withdraw, Leni, if you love your country,” he said.

“I’m calling for Leni to withdraw. Whatever you’re doing is not effective against the Marcoses. Withdraw, come and join us. Pwede pa-sub? Pa-sub naman. Baka kami maka-3 points, isa sa amin,” Mayor Isko added.

Last week, senator and Panfilo Lacson claimed that Vice President Leni Robredo’s camp requested him drop out of the 2022 race in return for his running companion Senator Vicente Sotto III, replacing Senator Francis “Kiko” Pangilinan as Robredo’s vice-presidential candidate.

“Sa akin may lumapit. Alam ninyo offer? Doon sa Pampanga. Alam mo ang proposal niya sa akin? Senator, kaya naming paatrasin si Kiko at ipasok si Senate President bilang vice president ni Leni basta mag-withdraw ka lang. I rejected [it],” Lacson said.
