Alleged investment scammers arrested in Pasig City

At least 10 people allegedly involved in an investment scam were arrested by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) personnel in an entrapment operation in Pasig City.

In a report by John Consulta on GMA News “24 Oras” on Thursday, it was said that personnel of the NBI-Anti Fraud Division raided the office of Massdrop Marketing after receiving a signal from their undercover agent.

Among those arrested was alleged investment company owner Edgar Joseph Tan.

The office is also full of busy people who would take the “payout” and invest in the company.

According to the NBI, the group allegedly receives investments ranging from P1,000 to P10 million in exchange for large interest or profit.

But the company does not have the proper documents or license to do so.

Aside from ordinary workers, some celebrities and social media influencers who were not named by the NBI were also allegedly enticed and victimized.

Attempts were made to take a statement from those arrested but they did not give a statement, according to the report.

However, they allegedly insisted that their investment business was legitimate.

The suspects will face multiple complaints including violation of the e-Commerce Act and syndicated estafa.

Kuya Wil assures his show continues amid ECQ in Metro Manila

Willie Revillame announced that he will continue to provide help and fun to the people through “Wowowin-Tutok To Win” even after the implementation of enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila.

In the episode of his program on Wednesday, Kuya Wil said that he met with the concerned government officials to make sure that they follow the health protocols to be implemented.

But due to ECQ in Metro Manila starting on Friday, August 6, Kuya Wil indicated that they will hold the program elsewhere because it cannot be done in the GMA Network studio and in Wil Tower.

“For two weeks po na wala kami rito, nasa isang lugar kami…makikita niyo kung gaano kaganda yung lugar na ‘yan,” said Kuya Will.
