Honey Lacuna wins first female mayor of Manila

Manila Mayor-elect Honey Lacuna is very grateful to the Lord and her supporters, volunteer groups, members of the media, and vloggers for their help that resulted in her winning Monday’s election and making history as the first female mayor of the city.

“Above all, I thank the Lord for the guidance I received and my family, especially my parents and Mayor Isko Moreno, for their all-out support,” said the Mayor-elect of Manila on Tuesday.

In an interview, Lacuna also assured that he and his running mate, vice mayor-elect Yul Servo, will serve Manila wholeheartedly and wholeheartedly and further uplift the city, based on what they have already begun.

“The victory of nearly the entire slate of their local party Asenso Manileno is a validation of the appreciation of Manilans for all the programs initiated by  Mayor Isko Moreno-Vice Mayor Honey Lacuna administration,” said.

Lacuna also assured that he would continue the current benefits for various sectors, and this is not just a promise.

It will be recalled that some of the blessings that Manila residents currently enjoy are monthly financial assistance for senior citizens, university students, solo parents, and persons with disabilities.

Like Lacuna, Servo also recorded a big vote and a big gap advantage over his opponents.

Servo also thanked Domagoso and Honey Lacuna for their support.

“I will be supportive vice mayor who will never be in the way of progress and taking care of the welfare of Manilans,” Servo said.

Meanwhile, Isko Moreno, the mayor of Manila and the leader of the Aksyon Demokratiko party, formally relinquished the presidency to former Senator and election frontrunner Ferdinand Marcos Jr. on Tuesday.

“The next administration won’t be successful if the resentment and bad blood continue… We need to unite and stand behind the next chosen one by the people,” he said in Filipino in a live-streamed press briefing on his Facebook page.

“The Filipino won. Let’s thank God [that] we have shown the world that democracy in our country remains,” he also said. “Let us respect the vote of our fellow people – poor, middle class, rich – they have one vote. Our vote is their vote, it’s equal.”
