Hacker forging bank websites arrested after 5 years

A male hacker has been arrested in Caloocan City who has been wanted since 2017 for falsifying banks’ websites to get people’s details and steal money.

In a report by John Consulta on “24 Oras Weekend” on Saturday, the attack by agents of the National Bureau of Investigation – Cybercrime Division can be seen after it was confirmed that the suspect, identified as Denmark Crisostomo, was at home.

A desktop was discovered inside the suspect’s house that, when checked by the NBI, contained fake websites of various banks allegedly used for phishing and cyber fraud.

Crisostomo is also known as the alias “Mang Kepweng” in cyberspace, who allegedly sources fake bank e-mails and creates scam pages or fake websites similar to the original bank websites.

“These are fraudulent bank websites that tried to deceive the people na mag-divulge ng kanilang credentials. So when these perpetrators were able to get their credentials meron silang free access sa inyong account. Pwede na po nilang gawin ang gusto nilang gawin, either i-withdraw or i-transfer po sa ibang account na controlled po nila,” said NBI-CCD executive officer Francis Señora.

One of those confiscated by the authorities was a high-end desktop.

The NBI said they would check the computer to find out the people and banks targeted by the hacker in his illegal operation.

“Ako po mismo ang gumagawa… Iba-ibang bangko. Nagse-send lang kami ng random e-mail sa kanila. Kung i-click nila at maglalagay sila ng username, password, doon namin makukuha. P50K ngayon, tapos kinabukasan, P50K ulit,” said Crisostomo.

(I make it myself—different banks. We just send a random e-mail to them. If they click and they enter a username, password, that’s where we get it. P50K today and P50K again the following day.)

“Sa mga nabiktima, pasensya na. Nagawa ko lang, kailangan ko rin ng pera eh, mga panggastos.”

(To the victims, I’m sorry. I just did it, I also need money for my expenses.)

The hacker, who is now detained at the NBI detention facility, is facing multiple complaints.
