Gyms, internet cafes in Taguig allowed to operate at 75% capacity

Following a new memo issued by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Taguig City government now allows gyms, internet cafes, and other businesses to operate at 75% capacity.

The Taguig Safe City Task Force said that the following businesses would be allowed to operate on increased capacity starting November 3:

  • testing, tutorial, and review centers;
  • gyms, fitness centers, and sports facilities;
  • internet cafes;
  • dermatological clinics offering aesthetic procedures;
  • other personal care services, including full body massage;
  • pet grooming services; drive-in cinemas;
  • travel agencies, tour operators, reservation service, and related activities.

“All business establishments providing the services mentioned above must comply with the mandatory health standards and protocols set by the IATF-EID, the National Task Force Against COVID-19 (NTF), as well as those mentioned in this advisory and other issuances of the City Government of Taguig thru the Safe City Task Force,” Advisory No. 31 read.

Gyms, internet cafes in Taguig allowed to operate at 75% capacity

Establishments that wish to operate must submit their Infectious Disease Preparedness and Response Plan (IDPRP) or the “Safe City Checklist.” This includes the following safety and hygiene measures to prevent virus transmission:

  •  A designated safety officer must be appointed to monitor coronavirus disease (COVID-19) measures, including physical distancing and wearing of face masks.
  • Mandatory reporting protocols for suspect, probable, or confirmed COVID-19 cases must be followed.
  • Require all customers to register before entry. Businesses are not also allowed to operate during curfew hours in Taguig from midnight to 4 am.
  • Follow minimum health standards and protocols, including wearing of face masks, face shields, and physical distancing.
  • No talking and no eating in public transportation and other confined areas and crowded places.
  • Adequate ventilation such as using exhaust system and air purifiers, and keeping windows partially open.
  • Frequent and proper disinfection.
  • Isolation of symptomatic or COVID-19 positive persons.

As of November 3, the Department of Health has recorded 1,772 additional cases of COVID-19. Meanwhile, 153 were recorded, and 49 died.

Of the total number of cases recorded in the country, 8.0% (30,876) were active cases, 90.1% (348,967) were cured, and 1.89% (7,318) died.
