Interviewed Gubat sa Ciudad guests showed no COVID-19 symptoms

Guests of Gubat sa Ciudad, the resort that was permanently closed recently due to illegal operations, showed no symptoms of COVID-19, Caloocan city government personnel said.

The Caloocan COVID-19 Command Center allegedly tried to call 180 people for contact trace of those who swam in the Gubat in Ciudad on Sunday, May 9, but only 108 still answered the calls.

“So far, lahat naman ng mga na-contact namin, they haven’t shown any (COVID-19) symptoms, which is good. They’ve been staying home… They’ve been closely monitored by our ground contact tracers. Luckily, we already formed teams around them,” said Sikini Labastilla, chief of Caloocan COVID-19 Command Center.

The Caloocan COVID-19 Command Center got 496 guest stubs from Gubat in Ciudad, of which it turns out 262 went to the resort on Sunday.

The remaining 234 do not say what date the stubs owners visited the resort.

Of the 496 stubs, only 276 have complete contact numbers.

“We’re checking kasi marami naman sa stubs, walang date din. We cannot (assume) that all of them went on May 9. I think marami rin sigurong stubs doon na went there before,” said Labastilla.

“So it’s really a matter of interviewing all the real names of the people who went there, either by phone or in person,” he added.

But there are contact numbers that are incorrect or cannot be reached, Labastilla said.

“Iyong iba talaga, hindi sumasagot. Obviously, a lot gave the wrong number kasi nga they probably know that they’re not supposed to be there,” he said.

It also turns out that based on the stubs, 112 guests were aged 17 and under, while 384 were aged 18 and over.

So far, 68 people involved in the incident have undergone the COVID-19 swab test.

The Caloocan City government has permanently closed the Gubat sa Ciudad for receiving guests even though it is still prohibited under the modified enhanced community quarantine.

The Gubat sa Ciudad resort management is also set to face charges. The chairman of the barangay that covers the resort has been charged.
