The Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) office in Iloilo has been temporarily locked down after 23 of its staff tested positive for COVID-19.
According to the advisory issued by the agency, the building will be temporarily closed from May 31 to June 6 to allow mass testing, quarantine, contact tracing, and disinfection.
According to Mike Arancillo of the Public Information Office of GSIS-Iloilo, the staff who tested positive for the virus are already in the quarantine facility. Four of them showed symptoms.
Their wellness department closely monitors staff who tested positive for the virus.
Meanwhile, the agency will continue to provide services through online and alternative platforms, according to Arancillo.
Meanwhile, Capiz Gov. Esteban Contreras tested positive for COVID-19 again, according to a provincial official on Tuesday.
According to Capiz Provincial Administrator Dr. Edwin Monares, the positive result of Contreras’ swab test came out only this Tuesday, which is asymptomatic.
Contreras first tested positive for the disease in August 2020.
The Governor’s Mansion of Capiz has been temporarily locked down for disinfection.
The governor is now in home quarantine, and contact tracing of its close contacts continues.
Roxas City in Capiz subjected to MECQ until June 16
Roxas City in Capiz has been placed under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ) starting this Tuesday, June 1.
This is after the Regional Inter-Agency Task Force approved mayor Ronnie Dadivas’s request following the swell of the COVID-19 case.
In joint Resolution No. 010 Series of 2021 released by RIATF, MECQ will be implemented until June 16.
There are border control checkpoints set up by the local government led by the police, soldiers, and barangay officials.
Rules under the MECQ will be strictly enforced citywide, including banning the discharge of persons 18-years-old and 65 and older, persons with comorbidities, and pregnant women.
Mass gatherings will also be strictly prohibited and will only be allowed to go out if essential goods and services are needed.
All tourism sites such as parks, inland resorts, and beach resorts are also closed.
According to the latest data from the City Health Office of Roxas City, more than 170 active cases of COVID-19 were recorded.
