Gregorio family says Nuezca’s death could have been staged

The family of Sonya and Franklin Gregorio doubts the death of the killer cop Jonel Nuezca who reportedly passed away inside the prison on Tuesday, November 30.

Mark Gregorio, son of the slain Sonya Gregorio, was surprised that Nuezca had already died.

Paniqui, Tarlac Regional Trial Court Branch 106, sentenced Nuezca to up to 40 years in prison in August for shooting and killing his neighbors Sonia and Frank Anthony Gregorio.

“Kahit po sabihin na may picture at nabalita na sa TV, ang reaction ko po…Kahit si papa, hindi po naniniwala. Kahapon po kasi kahit sino magsabi sa ami, hindi talaga kami naniniwala,” he said in a TeleRadyo interview.

(Even if we say that there is a picture and it has been reported on TV, my reaction is … Even papa, he can’t believe it. Yesterday, because whoever tells us, we don’t believe it.)

He added that some of their family members believe that Nuezca died, while others speculate that it was a ploy to let him out of jail secretly.

“Pwedeng palabas lang ‘yan…Palabasin na siya ‘yung bangkay pero ibang bangkay. Maraming pumapasok sa isip ko. Nagdududa lang talaga ako sa pagkamatay niya,” he said.

Gregorio family says Nuezca’s death could have been staged

(It could only be a show. It could be staged that it was his corpse, but it was someone else. Many come to my mind. I just really doubt he died.)

“Pulis po siya. Maraming paraan para makalaya siya (He is a cop. There are may ways he could go out).”

“This is to confirm the reported death of PDL Joel M Nuezca,” Bureau of Corrections spokesman Gabriel Chaclag said in a text message on Wednesday.

According to the official, Nuezca was declared  on Tuesday, 6:44 p.m., November 30, 2021.

Nuezca was allegedly taken to the NBP hospital unconscious by fellow inmates after fainting.

In another interview, Gregorio said he would confirm Nuezca’s death, noting he just wants to know the truth.

“Hindi pa rin mag sink-in na namatay na po siya pero kung namatay, condolence po sa pamilya…Pinagpapasa Diyos lang namin lahat,” he said.

(It still can’t sink in that he’s dead, but if he really died, condolences to the family. We leave it all to God.)
