After the beating, Galindes was able to go home and tell his grandmother what happened.

“Bigla ko siyang napansin na umupo sa gilid, umiiyak, hawak-hawak niya [‘ýung ulo niya]. Sabi ko anong nangyari sa iyo. Sabi niya, lola, masakit ang ulo ko. Sabi ko bakit. [Sabi niya] pinag-tripan mo ako ng apat na lalaki,” said Imelda Flaviano, the victim’s grandmother.

The victim told his grandmother the suspects kicked, punched, and hit his head with a hard object.

Galindes was rushed to the hospital, but he was comatose. He lost his life on November 25.

“Talagang napakasakit. Hindi ko maisip kung paano nangyari sa kaniya iyan,” said Flaviano.

Four suspects were arrested in a police follow-up operation, including an 18-year-old person with disability (PWD), Joselito Valeriano. Meanwhile, the three others are minors and children in conflict with the law (CICL).

Based on the investigation, the victim and a friend were on their way home from school when the group blocked them. The friend escaped, so he was not hurt.

“Hinabol, binugbog at nang maabutan ay binagsakan pa ng bato sa kaniyang ulo at katawan,” said Police Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III, chief of Quezon City Police District (QCPD).

The suspects are said to be visitors in the barangay.

“They are now known to each other. Walang rason para sila ay mag-away at magbugbugan, pero may nangyari nga dahil sa kursunada lang,” said Torre.

The suspects are facing charges of murder, although Valeriano denied his participation in the beating.

“Wala po akong kaalam-alam. Biktima rin po ako, tinuro ako nila. Trip lang po nila mambanat,” said Valeriano.
