Girl who attended birthday party found dead in Davao City

Residents discovered the body of a girl near a canal in Barangay Lasang, Davao City, Tuesday morning.

The family was devastated when it was confirmed that minor student “Weng” was found dead in Purok Taurus, Tambongon-Bucana Road.

Upon examination by crime scene operatives, the victim sustained a stab wound to the abdomen.

Based on the initial police investigation, around 8 pm on Monday night, the victim attended the birthday party of her female acquaintance.

Around 11 p.m. while it was raining heavily, the girl left with her friend, according to police.

According to her mother, the victim even informed her that she would only return the module.

She didn’t expect to attend the birthday party and it would rain.

“Nakapag-chat pa siya sa amin para sabihing huwag munang i-lock ang pinto dahil uuwi raw siya,” she said.

The girl’s body will be subjected to an autopsy while the police investigation into the crime continues.

Alleged drug pusher dead in Cabanatuan City buy-bust

A man accused of selling illegal drugs died in a buy-bust operation in Cabanatuan City, Nueva Ecija on Tuesday.

According to the Nueva Ecija PPO, the suspect, Chrisford Mendoza, allegedly resisted the operation in Purok Amihan, Brgy. Barrera thus exchanged gunfire, which caused his death.

A homemade caliber .45 gun without a serial number and 31 sachets of suspected shabu weighing 5.1 grams and valued at at least P31,000 were allegedly recovered.

Authorities also found dried marijuana leaves with fruiting.

Meanwhile, more than 800 people have been arrested in the ongoing police campaign against violators of special laws and health protocols to prevent COVID-19.

In the anti-crime drive launched by Police Regional Office 3 from April 19 to April 25, up to 820 offenders were arrested including wanted personalities.

A total of 177 were arrested for illegal gambling, 192 were involved in illegal drugs, 134 had standing warrants of arrest, and 317 were arrested for implementing search warrants and violating local ordinances and other special laws.
