Free cremation, columbarium services in Las Piñas already approved

Free cremation and columbarium services have been approved for Las Piñas residents based on an ordinance passed by the city.

The Las Piñas Public Crematorium located at Balite St., Manuyo Uno will be operational starting this Wednesday.

Cremation Policies and Rules:

  • The bereaved family can avail free cremation services at the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) who shall determine the eligibility of the bereaved;
  • Bereaved family can avail of the city crematorium services only after the remains of their departed have been prepared and handled by an accredited funeral parlor;
  • The claimant under the program may be the direct family member, relatives or friends of the deceased;
  • The applicant/claimant cannot avail the program if they have already availed of the “LIBRENG LIBING” program of the City;
  • The cremation services can be availed only after the remains have been prepared and handled by an accredited funeral parlor;
  • All human remains regardless of cause of death shall be handled by observing strict health and safety protocols by wearing complete and appropriate PPE at all times.

  • Non-COVID-19 related human remains can be handled with standard safety precautions. However, suspect, probable and confirmed COVID-19 deaths shall be handled with strict health and safety protocols by wearing complete and appropriate PPE at all times to prevent the spread of the disease;
  • Cremation of COVID-19 related deaths shall be done within 12hrs of death. Burial or cremation shall be in accordance with the dead person’s religion or customs.
  • Cremains container or urn shall be provided by the City;
Guidelines on Columbarium
  • Only those City Crematorium should be allowed to be interred in the City Columbarium;
  • Retention time for use of columbarium niches shall be limited to 10 years after which the urn shall be removed and turned over to the bereaved family or disposed of if there is no claimant by placing them in a common vault;
  • Urns can be taken out upon the official request of the family twice every 5 years and returned after 3 days. Failure to return the urn shall forfeit the bereaved to use the niche again. Damages incurred on the urn/ashes shall be the responsibility of the bereaved when the urn is taken out of the columbarium. Transfer permit across city boundaries shall be required of the bereaved family particularly those coming into Las Pinas City.
