Former dean found dead inside car’s trunk; suspect is victim’s minor grandson

In San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija, a 68-year-old former college dean, was stabbed to death by her grandson.

Virginia Del Rosario, from Barangay Castellano, San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija, was the victim, according to Joanne Ponsoy’s “GMA Balitang Amianan” on Thursday.

The victim’s neighbors informed the police that the former dean had not been seen leaving her residence for some days based on the inquiry.

Later, the barangay officials discovered the body of the victim in the car’s compartment.

“May nakapagsabi at may nakapag-advise na rin na pasukin yung bahay at kasama yung mga barangay officials at barangay tanod at doon nila nadiskobre ‘yung sasakyan, eh may kakaiba na pagkakaparada doon sa likod bahay nila,” said Police Major Jaime Ferrer, acting chief of San Leonardo Police Station.

The former dean’s grandchild came forward and admitted to the police that he had stabbed her grandma in the neck and struck her over the head before putting her body inside the car’s compartment.

He claimed to have also cleared the crime scene and destroyed the knife that had been used in the offense.

“Madalas nga raw siya pagalitan at yun nga against itong lola niya doon sa relasyon sa girlfriend niya,” Ferrer said.

The family of the victim declined to make a remark.

Currently, the Department of Social Welfare and Development has custody of the grandchild (DSWD).

A medical expert speculates that a strong and uncontrollable fury may have brought on the child’s involvement in the crime.

The expert suggested that children can benefit from their parents and elders’ instruction.

“May mga tao na pwedeng they feel like they are being misunderstood or they feel unloved. Lalo na kapag hindi sila nabibigyan ng pagkakataon to express [o na] ilabas ang kanilang nararamdaman dahil sa takot or minsan, dahil sa perceived power or authority ng mga magulang,” psychologist Dr. Nhorly Domenden said.

“Hindi pa fully developed ang kanilang impulse control or emotion regulation that is why kapag nakaramdam sila ng something, pwedeng agad-agaran na-iexpress nila at kung minsan hindi napag-isipan. Hindi planned ang kanilang ginagawa,” Domenden added.
