Authorities arrested a man pretending to be a dentist in Abuyog Leyte.
Based on preliminary information from the National Bureau of Investigation, they conducted an operation at the home of suspect “Alvin” after receiving a tip that he was pretending to be a dentist and asking for payments from his patients.
The two NBI personnel pretended to be patients to confirm the tip they received.
He found some equipment inside his house that he uses whenever he has an operation or dental procedure.
The suspect did not show a license or relevant document that he is a legitimate dentist.
The suspect also did not appear in the Professional Regulatory Commission’s database.
Consequently, he will face charges of violating R.A. 9484 or the Philippine Dental Act of 2007.
Only 4 regions’ high risk’ in COVID-19: DOH
Only four regions in the Philippines remain at high risk for COVID-19, the Department of Health (DOH) said Tuesday.
These include the Zamboanga Peninsula, Northern Mindanao, Davao Region and Soccsksargen.
Most have dropped to moderate risk except for Mimaropa, Bicol Region, Eastern Visayas, and Bangsamoro, which are already low risk.
Despite this, the DOH remains cautious in saying whether the end of COVID-19 is imminent.
“Ang positivity rate bumababa pero there are still regions with positivity rate greater than 50 percent. We should be cautious in saying na nari-reach na natin ang tail-end. Pero alam natin lahat we will somehow get there,” said Health Spokesperson Maria Rosario Vergeire.
Due to the continuing decline in cases, Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship Joey Concepcion said that the alert level system might be set aside when the number of cases is really low.
“There may be a certain point in time that we can lift alert levels and bring it back if it calls for it,” Concepcion said.
The DOH first explained that the alert level system was well-founded.
Moving to the widest Alert Level 1 will increase the criteria to be viewed, such as vaccination rate and safety seals in an area.
If we look at the National Capital Region, the vaccination rate in the region is undeniably high.
