Entrepreneurs in favor of the ‘vaccine bubble’ increasing

The list of various business sectors in favor of the proposal to implement “vaccine bubbles” increases where only vaccinated people and those with negative test results will be admitted to establishments.

According to Ayala Malls President Chris Maglanoc, it will not be difficult to implement in malls due to the strict enforcement of health and safety protocols.

“Malls have sufficient protocols to follow, which is why the concept of the Bakuna Bubble will not be difficult,” he said.

It will also help a lot, especially in the food and beverage sector, which has been severely affected by the pandemic, according to Resto PH President Eric Teng.

“Being one of the badly-hit sectors especially because of lockdowns, wherein most dine-in services are disallowed, bakuna bubble for restaurants will definitely help us,” he said.

For McDonald’s Philippines managing director Margot Torres, this cannot be considered discrimination because it will protect those who have not been vaccinated. It will also reduce the problem of this pandemic.

“We welcome that only fully vaccinated will enter our doors. This is not favoring the vaccinated but protecting the unvaccinated. COVID-19 vaccines are like a ‘seatbelt,’ and they are protection from any form of ‘accident,’ like the virus,” said Torres.

Wilcon Depot, Inc. EVP and COO Rosemarie Ong stressed that it is important to allow consumers to go to the establishments, especially when they need to see the purchased products.

“For retails, there are two channels to avail, and there are limitations of course when it comes to online selling because consumers cannot see a product that sometimes needs to be physically seen.”

There should be clear rules to complement this in the transportation sector, according to Victory Liner, Inc. President, and General Manager Marivic Del Pilar.

“There have to be uniform rules for the transportation sector to be able to complement this bubble,” she said.

Those in the IT and business processing sector, salons, and gym owners also favor vaccine bubble implementation.

Earlier, Presidential Adviser for Entrepreneurship and Go Negosyo founder Joey Concepcion called for implementing such a “vaccine bubble.”
