Enrollment in public schools begins

When the enrollment dropbox of Mandaluyong Elementary School arrived at the barangay hall of Barangay Poblacion on Monday, Cosme Gonowon immediately took the form.

She will enroll her son, who is one of 9 she will study in the upcoming school year 2021-2022.

“Mas [magaan] ang proseso dahil nandito sa barangay kaysa pupunta pa ng eskuwelahan,” said Gonowon.

Emelyn Campos scanned the QR Code on the Facebook page of Mandaluyong Elementary School to enroll her child in Grade 6 at the entrance.

“Mas convenient kasi hindi ka na kailangang umalis, mas safe,” said Campos, who also recounted that her son misses face-to-face classes.

Mandaluyong Elementary School will process the submitted enrollment forms with the help of teachers admitted under the skeletal workforce.

The Department of Education (DepEd) has requested in its enrollment guidelines that as much as possible, fully vaccinated personnel will oversee enrollment.

According to the guidelines, remote enrollment will be used during the enrollment period from August 16 to the start of class on September 13.

This includes assigning dropboxes to retrieve and fill out the enrollment form and online form submission, downloaded from DepEd websites and public schools.

Parents and teachers can also communicate through calls, text, and social media.
