ECQ cash aid to NCR 90% complete

Local governments in the National Capital Region (NCR) will soon complete the distribution of aid to residents in their jurisdiction who have been severely affected by the government’s imposed enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in the region from August 6 to 20.

According to the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Undersecretary for Barangay Affairs Martin Diño, their aid distribution is about 90%.

According to the official, Caloocan City is the first city to be the first to complete the distribution of aid, while other cities are also nearing the end of the distribution.

In this regard, Diño was also pleased with the faster distribution of cash aid this August compared to previous occasions.

It will be recalled that local governments in NCR started ECQ aid distribution on August 11 and set its deadline till August 25 only.

However, the DILG decided to extend the deadline to August 31 at the request of the LGUs.

Meanwhile, the Quezon City government has started distributing QCitizen identification (ID) cards to more than 1,000 persons with disabilities (PWD) in the city.

Such QCitizen ID, launched in January, is a unified ID for all QC residents.

It will also replace the current senior citizen, solo parent, and PWD IDs.

The QC LGU clarified that while not all residents have been issued QCitizen IDs, the current IDs they use are still valid.

“As we start distributing QCitizen IDs, we are hoping to collect more comprehensive data about our residents that belong to different sectors, so that we can tailor-fit services to their needs and ensure that the city’s resources are distributed more equitably,” said QC Mayor Joy Belmonte.

Registered PWDs are also entitled to obtain free PhilHealth membership sponsored by the city government under Republic Act 11228.

Before obtaining a QCitizen ID, PWDs must register online, through the QC E-services portal or fill out an application in their respective barangays.

Documentary requirements, such as their existing PWD ID, updated medical certificate, and photo, must also be uploaded.
