Queue for ECQ aid in Cubao Elementary School reached EDSA

The entire area around Cubao Elementary School was almost filled with people to get their ECQ aid and the queue reached EDSA Friday morning.

Some people just went to the place at 2 in the morning to be first in line. But what is followed is the stub in the barcode of the SAP form of the beneficiaries.

On Thursday, assistance will be given to those with stub numbers on barcodes starting with 1, 2 and 3. This morning, assistance will be given to those with stub numbers on barcodes starting with 4,5 and 6.

Despite this, many residents still went to the area even though they had not yet scheduled because they were afraid that they might not get help.

Most of those hoping to receive help are already leaning against the school wall on the side of the road while waiting.

About 124,435 Las Piñas residents are scheduled to receive assistance from April 9 until the end of the month.

But only 10,000 people are queuing at distribution centers in 20 barangays in the city today. Only 500 people will be given assistance per barangay, per day to prevent the influx of people.

It is first determined if the resident is on the list of recipients of assistance before entering the school. Priority is given to senior citizens and PWDs.

The government will only provide P1,000 per individual affected by the 2 -week enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) in Metro Manila, Bulacan, Cavite, Rizal, and Laguna () once.

According to the Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Sec. Wendel Avisado, the funding for the social amelioration program taken from the remaining budget for the implementation of Bayanihan 2 is only P22.9 billion.

Avisado explained that only P1,000 or up to P4,000 ECQ aid per family can be given in government assistance because it is also necessary to allocate a budget for other regions that are likely to experience strict quarantine classification.
