Residents of E. Visayas, Bicol evacuate due to Typhoon Bising

Typhoon Bising brought heavy rains and winds to some parts of the country, causing many residents to evacuate their homes.

In Tacloban City, some residents have fled after the city experienced heavy rains and strong winds.

Due to Typhoon Bising, large parts of Tacloban also lost power supply.

In Northern Samar, Governor Edwin Ongchuan ordered the evacuation of families living in coastal areas due to the possible impact of the typhoon.

The water level in a river in Barangay Cagogobngan in Catubig town has also started to increase due to wind and rain, so residents have been warned to start evacuating.

Just Saturday night, some residents in the towns of San Roque, Catarman, and Mondragon evacuated to the evacuation center to ensure their safety.

More than 30 families were evacuated from 3 barangays in Mapanas town due to the floods.

Local governments have already provided relief goods to the displaced families.

In Eastern Samar, several roads in the town of Arteche were flooded.

Taft town’s Camp 5 boundary junction was also closed this Sunday morning due to the possibility of a landslide.

In Guiuan, Eastern Samar, at the height of the typhoon, 12 houses in Barangay 6 were caught on fire.

The high tide accompanied the storm surge caused by the typhoon, destroying some houses on the coast of Barangay Nato in Sagñay town, Camarines Sur.

Four tested positive for COVID-19 antigen on 280 drivers and passengers parked on the Pan-Philippine Highway in Bato town, Camarines Sur.

Vehicles were stopped at the Camarines Sur-Albay border to avoid the long queue of vehicles at Matnog Port now that there is no trip due to the typhoon.

As of this Sunday morning, up to 700 passengers and more than 200 vehicles have been stranded at Matnog Port.

In Tiwi, Albay, residents fled after strong waves reached some houses in Barangay Lourdes.

Typhoon Bising is also felt in Virac, Catanduanes.

In Barangay Santa Cruz, water overflowed from the sea, causing shallow flooding.

In Barangay Francia, which is also a coastal area, some residents are preparing sandbags and other protective gear at home against the effects of the typhoon.

Some residents fled the capital of Catanduanes which serves as an evacuation center.

According to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, the Palace continues to monitor those affected by Typhoon Bising.

The Office of Civil Defense and Armed Forces of the Philippines is said to be ready for any operation. The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) also has standby funds and food packs ready.
