Duterte offers P50K-P100K reward for ‘ghost projects’ tipsters

President Rodrigo Duterte stepped his anti-corruption campaign and offered P50,000 to P100,000 cash incentives to anyone who could give information about any government “ghost project.”

Duterte said Tuesday night that he is willing to give cash reward to anyone who can provide information regarding any anomalous government contract.

“Kayong mga walang trabaho, kayong mga casual na ilang taon na all you have to do is to let me know and may price ako. Pagka mayroon kang malaking sindikato, ghost project ni director p*** i***, I will give you 50,000. Bulong mo lang maski sino. Yung kaibigan mo. Wag ka nang magbigay ng pangalan. Sabihin mo lang yung kontrata,” he said.

(To those unemployed, who have been casual workers for a long time, all you have to do is let me know, and I have a price. If you know a big syndicate, a ghost project by son of a b*** director, I will give you 50,000. Just whisper it to me, even if he’s your friend. You don’t have to give your name. Just tell me which contract.)

“Pag malalaking contract, huwag mo na sabihin pangalan, ibulong mo lang na niluluto yan. I’ll give you 100,000,” he added.

Duterte said he would protect the tipsters’ identity, adding he would help them if they get harassed by the people involved in the ghost project. Duterte said he would “deal with the devil” and shoot them legally.

“I will keep your identity secret until I reach my grave.  Hindi ko kayo bubukuhin, hindi ko kayo papasubo (I will not give you away or put you in a bad situation),” he said.

“At kung nalaman kayo tapos hina-harass kayo, paalamin mo ako. I will deal with the devil. ‘Yan ang gusto ko. Bumaril ng tao na legal. Kaya kung inaano ka, tinatakot ka. paalamin mo ako. I would be happy to make you happy,” he added.

(And if ever they found about you and harass you, just tell me, and I will deal with the devil. That’s what I want to shoot a person legally. So if they will threaten you, tell me. I would be happy to make you happy.)

Duterte made the remarks after reading aloud another set of names of Bureau of Immigration (BI) and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) personnel suspended or charged by the Office of the Ombudsman. Duterte added he would seek the dismissal of the suspended officials next time.
