Vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez Jr. said the newly arrived Sputnik V vaccines would be brought to the provinces.

In the provinces, there are now obstacles to vaccination.

First, some municipalities do not have cold storage or storage of sensitive vaccines.

Second, there is a shortage of vaccinators in the provinces.

But the Philippine Medical Association and other medical associations have reportedly volunteered to send vaccinators.

Due to the newly arrived vaccines, all vaccines arrived in the country as of November 8, reaching 113,451,500 doses.

Of the fully vaccinated Filipinos, 29,477,961 as of November 8.

Before the end of 2021, the number of people vaccinated is expected to reach 54 million.

That seems to be the recalibrated target now, according to Galvez.

That’s why they said that especially since they are planning National Vaccination Days from November 29 to December 1, which they will also recommend making it a holiday so that everyone will do nothing during those three days but get vaccinated.

According to Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, one of the current increases is the vaccine rate of the provinces of Calabarzon and Central Luzon because it is just next to Metro Manila.

Local government units in the National Capital Region are willing to help and send vaccinators to Regions 3 and 4A.

In September, Health Secretary Francisco Duque said Thursday the Philippines could achieve herd immunity by the first quarter of 2022, with 500,000  doses being administered every day.

“Supply permitting and assuming that there will be about 500,000 to 600,000 doses jabbed per day, the conservative estimate is, we might be able to achieve herd immunity sometime… second month of the first quarter of  2022,” the DOH chief said during the DOH’s budget deliberations.

According to Duque, 195 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines are expected to arrive by the end of 2021.
