DSWD: Spare Nuezca’s daughter from condemnation, cyberbullying

The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) appealed to the public to spare Police Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca’s daughter from condemnation and cyberbullying. This could further hurt the child.

In an interview with Super Radyo DZBB, DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao said, “Nakakalungkot ang insidente na ito pero i-spare natin iyong anak sa condemnation and cyberbullying.”

Dumlao stressed that the public should understand that Nuezca’s daughter’s capability to control her emotions is not yet fully developed because of her young age.

“We should not share images that would incite further judgment kasi hindi makakatulong sa kanya. It takes a village to raise a child, kaya we need to understand and extend support,” she added.

She added that the DSWD’s Field Office in Region 3 already gave psychological support and debriefing to Nuezca’s daughter and all the children and adults who witnessed the shooting incident.

“Nakapagsagawa na po kami ng initial assessment at intervention sa community, so they can be further rehabilitated if need be as a result of the incident,” she added.

However, Dumlao admitted that abuse appeared normal for Nuezca’s daughter, making the psychosocial intervention more important.

“Ang behavior ng mga bata ay base sa kanilang nasasaksihan, na-e-experience sa kanilang environment, kaya kailangan po talaga ng appropriate intervention at kung kinakailangan, confinement po sa residential care facility,” she said.

“Pinagsisikapan po ng social workers na hindi nila ma-imbibe itong ganitong behavior [of violence] kaya nga po it takes a village to raise a child,” she added.

On Sunday, Nuezca shot dead Sonia Gregorio, 52, and her son Frank Anthony Gregorio, 25, and residents of Purok 2, Brgy. Cabayaoasan in Paniqui, Tarlac.

In the four-minute video, the relatives of both parties were trying to calm the victims and suspects. Nuesca has not been saying much during the discussion but was seen holding something on his waist and was keeping his distance close to the victims.

Nuezca’s daughter, who was also taking a video of the incident, then shouted and said that his father was a policeman.

Sonia then answered back sarcastically and said, “I don’t care eh-eh-eh,” mocking her through a Korean song “I Don’t Care.”

Nuezca then said, “P****g i** ka! Gusto mo tapusin na kita ngayon? (You son of a b***! You want me to finish you now?) and without a word shot the mother in the head, then her son.
