A policeman was so angry that he was able to shoot a grandmother in Barangay Greater Fairview, Quezon City, early Monday morning.
In an interview with ABS-CBN News with Master Sgt. Hensie Zinampan, the police apologized to the family of the person he shot Lilibeth Valdez, 52.
Valdez was killed in the shooting, which was captured on a cellphone video.
Zinampan is said to have accumulated anger towards the victim’s children.
“Patawarin nila ako… Hindi nila ako nirerespeto (Forgive me. They did not respect me),” said Zinampan, who was charged with murder by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).
According to Zinampan, he was recently beaten by the victim’s 2 children even though he just stopped them from fighting.
“Binugbog ako. Na-black eye ako. Hindi nila nirerespeto ang pulis,” he said,
(They have beaten. I had a black eye. They did not respect me as a cop.)
Zinampan, a member of the Police Security and Protection Group, told Fairview police what happened.
Zinampan also admitted that he had been drinking before the incident.
Philippine National Police chief Gen. Guillermo Eleazar was furious with Zinampan when he confronted him at the QCPD office.

According to Eleazar, whatever the outcome of the investigation, Zinampan will definitely be removed from service.
Several investigators from the Commission on Human Rights also arrived at the crime scene Monday.
The cop shot the victim, and the CHR is mandated to investigate the abuses and killings by state forces.
The CHR urges the PNP to implement internal cleansing to reduce human rights violations in the country.
It was nine o’clock Monday night when the victim bought a cigarette at the store.
The suspect later pulled the hair of the victim. The victim pleaded but was shot at close range by the suspect. The 52-year-old grandmother died on the spot.
The suspect immediately walked away.
Fairview Police arrested the suspect, and they seized from him the gun allegedly used in the crime.
