DOH to send P1.9M worth of N95 masks, eye drops for Calabarzon

The Department of Health (DOH) will send protection kits containing N95 masks, and eye drops to Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon).

It is for distribution to residents affected by the Taal Volcanic eruption.

According to Health Undersecretary Eric Domingo, the DOH will supply up to P1.5 million worth of protection kits.

DOH will contact municipal and city health officers for the distribution of kits.

Residents in Calabarzon are considered a high priority at the high-risk area.

Vendors capitalize on Taal ashfall, N95 masks sold for P200

Some vendors took advantage of the high demand for N95 masks due to Taal ashfall, which started yesterday.

Acting Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan warned business people who capitalized on selling overpriced of face masks.

According to Lacuna-Pangan, complaints reached the office that the price of N95 Masks has increased in various markets in Manila after Taal ashfall.

From P25 to P30, a piece of N95 Mask allegedly now cost P200.

Lacuna-Pangan has also commissioned the Manila Bureau of Permits and the Manila Licenses Office to conduct inspections on businesses selling N95 Mask.

A University of the Philippine geologist said on Monday that lava flow for the Taal Volcano eruption was “good news” and showed “limited” potential damage as Alert Level 4 or possible “explosive eruption” was raised.
