DOH also sees end of COVID-19 pandemic

The Department of Health (DOH) is also anticipating the imminent end of the Covid-19 pandemic.

This was announced by DOH Officer-In-Charge (OIC) Maria Rosario Vergeire in a press conference this Friday, following the first statement by the World Health Organization (WHO) that they can see the imminent end of the pandemic.

“Dito sa Pilipinas kapag tiningnan natin, ako personally, and even the Department feels that we are seeing na mukhang matatapos na nga,” said Vergeire.

However, Vergeire said that the Philippines should still be prepared because even after the pandemic ends, the virus may still remain and occasionally cause outbreaks and deaths.

Vergeire said, “Expectedly, it will still cause outbreaks every now and then. Expectedly, it will still cause one to two deaths or some deaths every now and then because hindi naman mawawala ‘yang Covid-19, nandiyan ‘yan.”

She insisted that what needs to be done now is to strengthen the system, as well as the immunity of the citizens.

He also said that the country’s facilities should ensure that if there is another outbreak of Covid-19, there is nothing to fear because we are already protected against the virus.

He also said the country should continue testing, maintain clinical management, reach vaccination targets, strengthen healthcare facilities, and continue to implement risk communication with the public.

“It has affected the response of each and every country all over the world. Kailangan malabanan natin ‘yung nagpapakalat ng maling impormasyon, ‘yung nagpapakalat ng unscientific data laban sa bakuna, o di kaya laban dito sa mga response na ginagawa natin,” said DOH OIC.

The WHO first said this Wednesday that they could see the imminent end of the Covid-19 pandemic, so countries around the world have been encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to end it completely.
