Doctor arrested for selling illegal drugs in Davao

Authorities arrested a doctor from a large hospital in Davao City for selling illegal drugs in Suazo St., Barangay 28-C, in the said city, Tuesday.

Police caught John Perrett Herrera, alias “John,” 33, a surgeon and resident doctor of Southern Philippines Medical Center (SPMC). He is a high-value target and is on the drug watchlist of the Directorate for Intelligence (DI).

According to the report of P/Maj. Michael Uyanguren of Davao City Police, police who disguised as a buyer, bought one sachet of suspected shabu worth P1,000 from the arrested doctor.

When the transaction became positive, the poseur buyer immediately alerted his colleagues and arrested the doctor.

Police also seized P10,000 worth of illegal drugs, a cellphone, syringe, and red Toyota Vios from the arrested doctor.

According to the police, most of the suspect’s patrons are members of the LGBT community. The doctor also sells drugs to people he meets through the social media application Grinder.

Drug buy-bust operations: pharmacist, nurse arrested

Last month, Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) personnel arrested a nurse and pharmacist following the seizure of more than P 600,000 worth of shabu and party drugs in separate operations at a hotel in Pasig City and Quezon City.

PDEA chief Director General Aaron Aquino said they arrested Juan Carlos Reyes Antonio, a licensed pharmacist at Room 2212 Privato Hotel, Pasig City.

According to Aquino, they recovered six sachets of marijuana (6 grams) worth P12,000.00; a sachet of dried marijuana seeds (almost 1 gram) worth up to P 3,000; 20 tablets of ecstasy worth P40,000.00; a high fly capsule worth P2,500.00.
