Some patients have been waiting for several days in the triage area and emergency room due to the lack of vacant rooms.

According to hospital chief Dr. Eloisa Inano, there are most patients every weekend, and from time to time, an ambulance arrives to deliver patients.

A hospital building, as well as an isolation facility extension, are already full of COVID-19 patients.

More than 50 patients are suspected of having COVID-19 and are still awaiting a swab test result.

But in addition to the growing number of patients, the hospital also needs an oxygen tank.

According to Inano, they use 100 oxygen tanks per day.

Inano appealed to the national government for an additional oxygen tank and patient stretcher.

Laguna Governor Ramil Hernandez had earlier said that public hospitals in the province have already been filled due to the kick-off of COVID-19 cases.

According to Dr. Rene Bagamasbad, provincial health officer of Laguna, the number of active COVID-19 cases in Laguna has reached 3,360.

Many of the cases come from cities with many factories, Bagamasbad said.

He said the restriction on Authorized Persons Outside Residence (APOR), such as factory workers, is not too strict, adding to the COVID-19 cases.

Despite this, Bagamasbad believes that subjecting Laguna to enhanced community quarantine will help reduce COVID-19 cases.

The number of active  cases or still sick in Laguna has jumped to 3,000, Governor Ramil Hernandez said this Sunday.

In an interview with TeleRadyo, Hernandez said that of the 3,000 active cases, 26 were cases of the more contagious Delta variant of the virus.

He said this is one of the reasons why the province was subjected to enhanced community  (ECQ), the strictest  status, until mid-August.

According to Hernandez, the enforcement of health protocols is now stricter, and they have also added a police force.
