Death toll due to Paeng reaches 121 – NDRRMC

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council reports that as of Wednesday morning, the reported death toll from Severe Tropical Storm Paeng has increased from 112 to 121. (NDRRMC).

According to the NDRRMC’s 6 a.m. report, Calabarzon had 12 deaths, followed by Western Visayas with 29 and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) with 61.

NDRRMC said only 92 of the total reported fatalities had been confirmed thus far, with the other ones still pending verification.

The NDRRMC stated that 36 people were reported missing, and at least 103 people were reported injured.

Paeng also impacted 3,180,132 people, or 927,822 families, in 7,341 barangays throughout all regions.

Within the 2,904 evacuation centers, 176,337 people—or 49,698 families—were staying, while the remaining 692,941 people—or 277,825 families—were finding shelter in other locations.

11,294 homes in total, 9,190 partially and 2,104 completely, were reported damaged.

535 floodings, 121 landslides, and 11 storm surges were among the occurrences reported during the onslaught of Paeng during the weekend.

There were reports of P1.278 billion in agricultural damage. In addition, the National Irrigation Administration (NIA) claimed damage totaling P1.475 million.

On the other hand, it was stated that P3.425 billion worth of infrastructure was damaged.

Due to the effects of the tropical cyclone, 164 cities and municipalities were in a state of emergency.

Severe Tropical Storm Paeng’s devastation has forced certain localities to cancel classes for Wednesday, November 2, 2022.

  • Cavite: all levels from November 2 to 5
  • Tuguegarao City: all levels, public and private, from November 2 to 3
  • Antique: all levels, public and private, effective November 2; classes will resume on November 7
  • Laguna: all levels, public and private, from November 2 to 5
  • Cotabato City: all levels, public and private, from November 2 to 5
  • Vigan City: all levels, public, November 2
  • Cagayan
    – Solana: all levels, public and private, November 2
    – Enrile: all levels, public and private, November 2
    – Gattaran: all levels, public and private, November 2
    – Lal-lo: all levels, public and private, November 2
    – Amulung: elementary to senior high school, public and private; until November 3
    – Tuguegarao City: all levels, public and private; until November 03
    -Aparri, all levels, public, November 2
