Davao Region receives additional 72,000 doses of Sinovac vaccine

Davao Region received an additional 72,000 doses of Sinovac COVID-19 vaccine Wednesday morning.

Meanwhile, more than 50,000 in Davao City have been fully vaccinated against COVID-19.

The Davao City Vaccination Cluster has recorded 52,038 Davawenyos who have received their second dose of the vaccine.

The city has also administered 248,285 for the first twelve.

Vaccination has been completed on 27,247 health workers included in the A1 priority list, while 13,072 are fully vaccinated senior citizens (A2), 11,579 are fully vaccinated persons with comorbidities (A3).

The first dose was also received by 30,720 economic workers belonging to the A4 group and 6,685 indigents (A5).

Vaccines donated in Davao City are Pfizer, Sputnik V, Sinovac, and AstraZeneca.

“We have already consumed all our supply of Pfizer vaccines. What we are using now is the Sinovac for the A4 category or frontline workers. Hopefully, we can speed up our vaccination to slow down our cases even if we cannot achieve herd immunity in time – that is our hope,” said Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio.

Currently, there are 25,851 total COVID-19 cases in Davao City, of which 4,246 are active cases.

Last month, OCTA Research Group said the increase in in Davao City had slowed slightly.

“Davao City had a slight decrease in cases and has dropped to second overall in the entire Philippines. Its positivity rate was 12 percent while its reproduction number over the past week was 1.46,” said OCTA in their study.

Meanwhile, Malacañang congratulated the country after up to 12 million doses of vaccine against COVID-19 were injected into the people.

“Ito po ay mabuting balita – narating na natin ang 12th million mark of doses administered. Congratulations, Philippines!” said Presidential Spokesman Harry Roque.

The Palace once again encouraged citizens to get vaccinated, especially with another new variant of COVID-19, the Lambda variant first seen in Peru.

Malacañang is confident that the said variant will not penetrate the country due to the ongoing restrictions on borders.

But he still said that those who have been vaccinated should not be complacent and should follow .
