Darren Espanto once again clarified the speculation that he is gay, saying that he was straight.

In this vlog of his friend Kyle Echarri, Darren first shared how he dealt with the bashers.

“How do I deal with those people? You know what, just don’t mind them. Kasi sa industriyang ginagawalan natin — Kyle, alam mo ‘yon — we’re always going to run into people like that, especially bashers. Kasama’ yan sa mundo ng showbiz and all that. I personally don’t mind them,” said Darren.

“I know na wala naman silang mas magandang ginagawa sa buhay kaysa sa akin… that’s pretty much it. Like, who cares about them?” added Darren.

When Kyle asked Darren what an issue that had long been thrown at him that he wanted to clarify was, Darren replied: “Like a lot of people are like ‘bakla ‘yan kasi.’ Oh yeah, for real, ever since ‘The Voice Kids,’ when I started singing songs that are always for girls or like I have a high voice, in general. They always assume my sexual preference pretty much. But I’d like to let everyone know that I’m straight.”

“I’ve addressed this before but the thing is always parang wala na silang ibang mahanap. So kapag bored sila sasabihin nilang ‘Ah bakla ‘yan.’ So ‘yun,” Darren said.

Darren Espanto again clarifies he is not gay

Singer Darren Espanto first denied the rumors that he is gay in 2016.

“Marami pong nagsasabi na ‘Uy bakla si Darren,’ or I’m gay. Nakakatawa sila kasi I know who I am and alam ko pong hindi po ako bakla. It’s funny kasi they take the time to bash,” he said.

“Siyempre po sa social media, hindi naman po maiiwasan ang pag-bash ng tao. You also have to think before you post din siyempre,” he said.

Espanto said his crush then was Cassy Legaspi, the daughter of Carmina Villarroel and Zoren Legaspi. He also admires actress Kathryn Bernardo.

In 2018, Darren and fellow The Voice Kids alumnus JK Labajo engaged in an online word-war after the latter called Darren gay on Twitter.

The feud started when Espanto called out Labajo for allegedly posting a now-deleted tweet that reads, “@Espanto2001 gayness at its finest.”
