First Heroes Award awarded to Rep. Salceda

For the first time, the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) awarded economist 2nd District Rep. Joey Salceda of the “Heroes Award” to recognize the legislator’s efforts to create and advance bills related to science, technology, and significant change in the country.

HEROES stands for ‘House [of Representatives] Exponents of Responsive and Outstanding Engagement in Science.’ The award was personally presented to Salceda by DOST Secretary Fortunato De La Peña in Legazpi City on Tuesday.

This follows the inauguration of the new building of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) in Legazpi City. Salceda sought funding for the PAGASA building under the supervision of DOST.

“Panghabang panahong tatanawing utang na loob ng DOST ang mahahalagang batas na naiambag ni Salceda sa ‘science and technology’ gayundin sa mga programa at proyektong may kaugnayan dito,” said dela Peña.
