There is a long line of residents of Caloocan and Manila who are scheduled to be vaccinated this Wednesday against COVID-19.
In Caloocan City, 600 senior citizens are expected to be vaccinated today.
Most residents 60-years old and up lined up early at Caloocan High School on 10th Avenue to get ahead of the AstraZeneca vaccine. There are only 300 vaccines available for them in this particular high school. All A1 and A2 categories will be vaccinated at the said school.
There are also 300 vaccines available for the said category at NHC High School on Camia Street in the said city. Senior citizens who have undergone online profiling or those who profiled at their respective barangay health centers will be vaccinated first.
There is a fast lane for medical frontliners
Part of the system is to go through registration, screening, consultation, then vaccination, and the 30-minute monitoring for possible side effects.
Nearly 3,000 slots are also reserved this Wednesday for those with comorbidities in the city aged 18 to 59 years old, with diabetes, high blood pressure, tuberculosis, and more. They just need to show a medical certificate and ID.
COVID vaccination of seniors, persons with comorbidities begins in Manila, Caloocan
In Manila, A3s on the priority list or persons with comorbidities lined up early at Ramon Magsaysay High School this Wednesday for vaccination. This includes people aged 18 to 59 with preexisting conditions such as chronic respiratory, kidney or liver disease, hypertension, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and tuberculosis.
Those who lined up early had a medical certificate for 18 months, prescription drugs for 6 months, hospital and surgical records as proof of their comorbidity. Their vital signs must also be normal before they can be vaccinated.
Vaccination sites will be set up in 12 schools.
The police, on the other hand, is ensuring the strict implementation of physical distancing and other health protocols, especially since those with comorbidities are also at high risk in COVID-19.
The Manila local government, on the other hand, announced that the vaccination of senior citizens has been stopped because the 4,000 doses of AstraZeneca reserved for them have been consumed. For now, Sinovac will be injected into A3 persons with comorbidities.
The local government will first ask for clearance if Sinovac can be used for senior citizens because many still want to get vaccinated.
