COVID-19 will take care of those unwilling to get vaccinated – Palace

Malacañang said Monday that COVID-19 would take care of Filipinos who do not want to be vaccinated.

“Bahala na si COVID-19 sa kanila since ayaw nila magpabakuna (COVID-19 will take of them since they don’t want to get vaccinated),” presidential spokesperson Harry Roque said.

Last month, President Rodrigo instructed the police and barangay captains to limit the movement of citizens who do not want to be vaccinated against COVID-19 amid the rising number of Delta variants.

Duterte will tell the police to bring home those who come out without the  because they are likely to spread the virus.

He said there is no end to the problem if the complaints are given, but they do not want to be vaccinated.

“Walang katapusan ito kung pagbigyan ko lang kayo. ‘Pag mahina ang loob ko dahil mag-iyak-iyak kayo diyan, eh ibang istorya ito, adre. Bayan itong pinag-uusapan natin kaya kung ayaw ninyong makatulong by having the vaccines, eh ‘di huwag na lang kayong lumabas ng bahay,” said Duterte.

Duterte added that it is the job of the barangay captains to see who else in his constituency does not yet have the vaccine.

“It behooves upon really the barangay captains. Trabaho talaga ng barangay captains iyan eh to go around to see who are vaccinated and who are not, and to give the appropriate warning that they should not be going around because they are throwing viruses left and right,” said Duterte.

However, Roque insisted that it was not President Rodrigo Duterte’s fault that people rushed to vaccination sites after his statements about unvaccinated Filipinos.

“The address was July 28. The incident happened August 5. Walang pagkakamali ang ating Presidente sa kaniyang pagsasalita (The President was not wrong in what he said),” the presidential spokesperson explained.

“The bottom line — it is the job of LGUs [local government units] to implement an orderly and humane vaccination program. Huwag ibaling ang sisi sa Presidente (Do not pin the blame on the President),” Roque added.
