COVID-19 response in PH shows significant improvement

Hospitals and health care workers have made great improvements when it comes to COVID-19 response in the country.

Ramos was the former head of the Administrative Division of the Lung Center of the Philippines and is now chancellor of the De La Salle Medical Health Services Institute in Dasmariñas, Cavite.

Ramos added that they are now better at treating patients with COVID-19.

Ang advantage ngayon may gamot, meron ‘yung kinakailangang gamot at facilities,” he said.

According to Ramos, the occupancy rate at the Lung Center is already at 81 percent.

“Doon sa 105 kama na ina-allot para sa COVID, 85 ‘yung may laman o 81 percent ang occupancy rate ng COVID facility kaya nag-slide in na sila ng wards para magamit ng mga COVID,” he said.

Meanwhile, nearly 200,000 out of a total of 1.7 million  in the country have been vaccinated against COVID-19 in the 2 weeks since the government’s vaccination program was launched.

According to data from the Department of Health, 193,492 health workers, or more than 11 percent of the total number have been vaccinated against the disease.

To vaccinate all health workers, the country will need 3.4 million vaccine doses.

But so far, only 1.1 million are in the country, of which 90 percent have been taken to vaccination sites as well as Batanes and Tawi-Tawi.
