Comelec removes illegal campaign posters of candidates in Manila

The Commission on Elections (Comelec) visited various places in Manila to check on compliance with the placement of campaign materials now that the campaign period has begun.

In the first few roads in Sampaloc, the Department of Public Works and Highways and the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority have already demolished many because the posters of the candidates have been posted in prohibited areas such as trees and electricity poles.

Posters of local and national candidates were also removed due to the violation.

Some posters that were in the correct posting areas but were too large have also been removed.

The Comelec Manila also reminded that even on private properties with oversized posters, it is still prohibited under Comelec Resolution No. 10730 of the Fair Elections Act.

The dismantled posters will be kept by them and cannot be taken back by their candidates and supporters because they can be used as evidence to file an election offense.

The demolition is not just for today and according to the Comelec. It is a series of demolition, so the candidates and their supporters must follow the right place and size of the campaign posters.
