The Commission on Human Rights (CHR) is appealing to the Facebook leadership to delete all videos of a policeman’s shooting of a mother and her son in Paniqui, Tarlac this Sunday.
According to CHR Regional Director Leorae Valmore, they have written on Facebook to immediately remove from social media the footage of how Police Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca killed Sonia Gregorio, 52 and Frank Anthony Gregorio, 25.
It is said that to this day, the incident still affects the families of the victims, especially those who are minors who witnessed the crime.
Yesterday, Gregorio’s family joined the psychological debriefing when they were visited by the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
Valmore said they understand the uploading of the Tarlac shooting video because they just want to convey it to the authorities.
But now that they have gained sympathy for the murder, he said that Facebook should delete the video because it further aggravates the family of the victims if it continues to spread on social media.

A day after the video of the shooting went viral on social media, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Debold Sinas discouraged the public from taking videos or photos of crime incidents as this could endanger one’s life.
Sinas was asked to respond concerning the public’s sentiment that it was fortunate that Police Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca killing his mother and son neighbors was caught on video.
Sinas said that taking video or photos of a crime could put witnesses at risk.
The PNP chief said if the public really wants to take videos or photos, they should make sure that they are far from the crime scene.
Sinas also asked the public to stop posting videos or photos on social media and show them to authorities instead as evidence.
“Instead of having it posted sa internet, baka makuwan pa, matamper pa. Show it officially to the investigators at magtestify ka na ikaw ang kumuha,” Sinas said.
