Three Chinese nationals allegedly captured by the syndicate were rescued in different places in Metro Manila. One of the victims escaped while carrying the part of the bed where he was handcuffed.
Emil Sumangil told GMA News “24 Oras” on Thursday that a Chinese man walking at the foot of a condominium building in Malate, Manila, was first rescued when a guard spotted him.
The Chinese national was handcuffed to the headboard of the bed he was carrying.
The guard immediately called the police, and the Manila Police District Station 5 and SWAT team responded quickly.
The Chinese national pointed to another of his colleagues captive in the condominium unit. His hand was also handcuffed and attached to the headboard of the bed.
Another victim’s legs were also handcuffed.
The foreign victims, who did not speak Filipino and English, were found with wounds and bruises on their bodies, arms, and legs.
Police were about to leave when they arrested three Filipino guards in the parking lot of the condominium unit where the victims were detained.

Chinese kidnapped, escaped while handcuffed and carried bed headboard
The suspects confessed that there is another safe house in Parañaque, and there they saw another Chinese national who was also handcuffed to the bed, with black eyes and wounds on his hands and feet.
Two other Filipinos were arrested who also directed the police to another safe house of their employer in Las Piñas.
On their way to Las Piñas, four more Filipinos were arrested, but the alleged Chinese leader, who is now wanted, escaped.
Based on the MPD’s initial investigation, a syndicate is behind the abductions of Chinese working in Metro Manila.
But the police noticed that the Filipinos were now involved in the syndicate.
Those arrested will face charges of kidnapping for ransom, illegal detention, and illegal possession of firearms.
