Child shot by neighbor with mental illness in Ilocos Sur

Authorities are now looking for a man who allegedly has a mental illness after shooting an eight-year-old girl in the abdomen and stabbing the victim’s grandfather in Ilocos Sur.

In a report by Ivy Hernando on GMA Regional TV “Balitang Amianan” on Monday, it was said that the suspect rushed to the house of the victims in his barangay in Salcedo, Ilocos Sur.

The suspect first allegedly aimed his gun at the father of the young victim but the father managed to run away.

But the father did not know that her daughter was there. The suspect turned to the child and shot her in the stomach.

The girl’s grandfather came to the rescue and tried to snatch the suspect’s gun but the suspect him in the shoulder.

The suspect soon fled.

The grandfather was released from the hospital while his granddaughter underwent an operation and is still in critical condition due to a bullet wound.

According to the child’s mother, her child is still under observation due to four holes in the intestine.

Erap, 84, will be released from the hospital after a successful fight with COVID-19

After recovering from COVID-19, former President Joseph “Erap” Estrada can be released from the hospital, according to his son, former senator Jinggoy Estrada.

“Our family is overjoyed to announce that our father will finally be discharged from the hospital today,” Jinggoy posted in a Facebook post on Monday.

The former legislator thanked the doctors who treated his father, and the people who prayed for the former president’s recovery.

“But most of all, we would like to thank our Lord Almighty for His love and guidance through all of this,” added Jinggoy.

In March, Erap tested positive for COVID-19 and had another chance to be placed in the intensive care unit.

On April 13, the former president tested negative for the virus, celebrating his 84th birthday on April 19.
