Catherine Camilon’s family will be given with police security

The family of the missing Catherine Camilon in Batangas will be given police protection. This was after a police officer was identified as the “person of interest” in the disappearance of the beauty queen.

“Nagbigay na tayo ng instruction sa hepe ng Tuy, Batangas na bigyan ng security at assistance itong pamilya ni Miss Catherine,” said Police Regional Office (PRO) 4A chief Police Brigadier General Paul Kenneth Lucas in a press conference this Friday.

This Thursday, PRO 4A announced that the police met the beauty queen the day she disappeared on October 12.

Lucas said that the case investigation will be transferred to the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) unit in the region because a police officer is related to it.

At the same time, the Regional Internal Affairs 4A will conduct a separate administrative investigation based on the recommendation of the Regional Committee on Missing and Found Persons.

The police officer was temporarily removed from his post, and placed under the Regional Personnel Holding and Accounting Unit. The Commission on Elections (Comelec) is still waiting for the approval of the police transfer because police reassignments are prohibited during elections.

“The removal of the police officer from his position is essential to ensure that the investigation remains free from potential influence and guarantees a fair and thorough examination of the case,” said Lucas.

CCTV footage showed Catherine’s car passing through several towns in Batangas on October 12.

After Catherine was spotted walking inside a mall in Lemery at 7:24 pm, her car passed Poblacion Uno in Sta Teresita at 8:07 pm.

Three minutes later (8:10 pm), the CCTV camera captured the vehicle’s passing in Barangay Muzon in the town of San Luis. Between 8:24 pm to 9:25 pm, vehicles can be seen passing through several barangays in Bauan.

In the CCTV camera footage, it seems that Catherine was with someone in the car.

It can be remembered that Catherine’s mother first said that she sent a message that she was at a gas station in Bauan.

Around 9:53 p.m., Catherine’s car left Barangay San Agustin in Bauan. And by 10:00 pm, it was seen to exit the barangay road of Barangay Sta Maria.

According to Lucas, investigators are optimistic that Camilon is alive.
