Cameroonian arrested in Batangas – BI

Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco announced the arrest of a Cameroonian man for violation of immigration laws.

Arrested last September 13 in Banaba West, Batangas, was 33-year-old Georges Aurelian Essiane Biko.

Biko was the subject of a mission order issued by Tansingco after receiving a verified complaint that he has been staying in the country without a valid visa. He was also the subject of a complaint for domestic violence. He was unable to present his passport upon inspection by immigration agents.

Biko was charged for violation of Section 37(a)7 of the Philippine Immigration Act of 1940, for overstaying.

“We will not allow illegal aliens like him to run free in our country,” said Tansingco.

Biko will remain in the BI’s facility in Bicutan, Taguig while facing deportation proceedings.

Meanwhile, BI intelligence operatives arrested six illegal aliens in separate operations in Luzon and Visayas.

Arrested last September 12 were three Chinese nationals along Peneyra Rd., Brgy. San Pedro, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan.

The Chinese nationals were arrested after being found to be illegally managing a junkshop and a fishery business in the area.

It was revealed that one of the Chinese men presented a doubtful Philippine passport, while the other two presented documents stating that they were working in . All three were arrested for misrepresentation and for violation of the conditions of their stay.

BI employees’ groups spearhead medical and dental mission 

Officers and members of two employees’ group of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) spearheaded a medical and dental mission for Manila residents last September 2.

The outreach, organized by the Buklod ng mga Kawani ng CID and the BI Multi-purpose Cooperative, was conducted in the City of Manila.

Recipients of much-needed medical assistance were seniors, adults and children of barangays in Intramuros.

The mission was conducted with the support and cooperation of Manila District 301-A3, the Manila Action Lions Club, the Manila Achievers Lions Club, the Manila Young Achievers Lions Club, and the Manila Young Entrepreneurs Lions Club.

The Buklod ng mga Kawani ng CID and the BI Multi-purpose Cooperative are two major employees’ groups in the BI, with member employees assigned in different offices of the agency nationwide.

The activity was well-attended, and more than 400 underprivileged residents of Barangays 654, 655, 657 and 658 were given assistance.

The activity was conducted as part of the agency’s 83rd founding anniversary celebration, which was held last September 8 at the BI’s head office in Intramuros, Manila.
