The incident in Carranglan, Nueva Ecija, where two individuals on a bus were shot, might stem from personal motives rather than business-related issues, according to the police on Thursday.
Police Major Rey Ian Agliam of the Carranglan Municipal Police Station suggested in an Unang Balita interview that the act appeared premeditated.
“May ano doon sa babae, may pagbabanta,” he said.
“May theory kami na ito ay ‘Plan B’ na ng assassination sa dalawa. Parang plan B na nila ito, kasi merong sasakyan itong mga biktima. Ang pinagtataka namin bakit sila nag-commute at papaano nasundan. ‘Yan ang aalamin namin. Magba-backtracking po kami,” he added.
(We have a theory that this is already ‘Plan B’ for the assassination of the two because the victims have a car. We are wondering why they commuted and how they were followed. That’s what we will find out.)
Agilam stated the deceased were cohabiting entrepreneurs.
“‘Yung babae po is medyo maluwang ang saka diyan sa Cauayan and dati siyang may palay buying station. May mga paupahan rin po. ‘Yung lalake may negosyo na related sa bakery,” he said.
Bus shooting in Nueva Ecija maybe due to personal reasons – police
(The woman has a pretty big farm in Cauayan and used to have a rice-buying station. She also has rental properties. The man has a business related to the bakery.)
On Wednesday, Agliam reported that law enforcement engaged in an immediate chase of suspects believed to have fled into the mountains.
“Ang mga suspects ay bumaba ng bus, then tumawid sa ilog, then umakyat ng bundok. May mga eyewitness tayo…na umakyat ng bundok ang dalawang suspect,” he said.
(The suspects got off the bus, crossed the river, and climbed the mountain. We have eyewitnesses saying that the two suspects went to the mountains.)
Based on the initial police report, while the bus was traveling on the mountainous road in Barangay Minuli, Carranglan, two male suspects suddenly approached from behind and shot the victims in the head who were sitting in front.
After committing the crime, the suspect told the driver to stop the bus near the river along the Maharlika Highway and get off.
When passing the COMPAC in Barangay Joson, Carranglan, the driver immediately reported the incident to the police, which was captured by the dash cam video of the bus where the faces of the suspects wearing face masks were seen.
