The Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced the arrest of 2 Korean fugitives arrested in the island of Boracay last August 13.
According to BI Commissioner Jaime Morente, officers from the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) arrested Kwon Yongtae, 58 and Im Seung Il, 39 in an operation at Barangay Balabag, Boracay Island.
Kwon is an undocumented alien, and is considered a risk to public safety and security.
Information from Korean authorities state that Kwon has a warrant of arrest issued in 2012 by the Seoul Bukbu District Court for fraud in violation of Korean laws.
Im, on the other hand, also has a standing warrant of arrest issued by the Uijeongbu District Court in Korea for fraud amounting to KRW 32,000,000 or 1.3M pesos. An Interpol red notice was also issued against Im for assault last August.
Im, along with his gang members, reportedly assaulted a victim and extorted money amounting to 40 Million KRW or 1.7M Pesos.
Both aliens will be held temporarily at the BI’s Warden Facility in Taguig pending their deportation.
Last week, operatives of the Bureau of Immigration (BI) also arrested three South Koreans, who are in the Bureau’s list of wanted fugitives and illegally staying aliens in the country.

Boracay ops yield arrest of 2 Korean Fugitives – BI
In a report to Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente, the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU) said that the three aliens were apprehended on Tuesday, at their residence inside a subdivision in Angeles City, Pampanga.
Those arrested were identified as Han Jeongcheol, 47, Yang Wonil, 48, and Cho Sunggye, 56.
According to the report, the FSU operatives conducted the operation to serve a deportation warrant against Han, who was ordered expelled by the BI for being a fugitive wanted for illegal drugs in his country.
However, the FSU officers also encountered Yang and Cho, who happened to be inside the house during the operation.
In turned out, upon verification with South Korean authorities, that Yang is also a fugitive who is wanted for fraud in his country.
