Bongbong Marcos says Sara Duterte will be DepEd Secretary

Bongbong Marcos, the presidential frontrunner, claims that leading vice presidential candidate Inday Sara Duterte-Carpio has agreed to be the Department of Education (DepEd) secretary.

“Mahirap ang trabaho ng secretary of education pero nag-agree naman siya,” Marcos said.

(The job of the secretary of education is difficult, but she agreed.)

“I’ve already been authorized to announce the first nominee we will be giving to the Commission on Appointments when the time comes should I be proclaimed. That is that our incoming Vice President has agreed to take the Department of Education,” Marcos said.

Earlier, Liloan town mayor Christina Frasco and spokesperson of Sara Duterte said the to be vice president is interested in leading the Department of Defense.

“The Vice President-elect Sara has indicated she would be interested in the Department of National Defense, and of course, she’s here to fully support the administration of President-elect Bongbong Marcos,” she said.

Her spokesperson said Sara Duterte is a “very very organized and proactive person.”

“She comes up with proactive solutions. She’s not the type to complain but the type to act on problems,” Frasco said.

“Vice President-elect Sara Duterte has always stood firm on the decisions she has made and she values her independence both as a mayor and a person in politics.”

The former Davao City mayor has also “always put herself at the forefront of public relations to deliver directly to them the message they would like to convey,” Frasco said.

“Her preference has always been to go to the people,” she said.

Sara Duterte-Carpio stated she would fight for mandatory military duty for all Filipinos aged 18 and up in January.

“Gagamitin ko ang aking opisina (I will use my office) —Office of the Vice President—para kausapin ang ating (to talk to our) Congress, the House of Representatives and the Senate to make  for all 18 years old, male and female, mandatory in our country,” she said.

According to Duterte-Carpio, countries such as South Korea and Israel have mandated  for their citizens.
