“We were initially informed by Mongolian authorities that Badamjunai will be in Cebu City,” Manahan shared.

BI agents then arrested the Mongolian following the mission order, issued by Immigration Commissioner Norman Tansingco.

Badamjunai was reportedly charged for deportation for undesirability as he is a fugitive from justice and thus, poses clear and present danger, risk to public interest and safety, and threat to national security.

“The Mongolian government has also cancelled his passport, rendering him undocumented,” added Manahan.

Manahan then shared that to avoid further delay and inconvenience, Badamjunai was deported that same night via a Korean Airlines flight from Mactan, Cebu upon the request of Mongolian authorities.

Tansingco then commended the BI agents. “This is yet again a major arrest for our agents,” he said. “Rest assured that we will continue to hunt down these criminals and continue to strengthen our partnership with foreign counterparts to maintain public safety and security,” he added.

Airport operations for Holy Week smooth sailing –BI

Bureau of Immigration (BI) Commissioner Norman Tansingco said that airport operations are so far smooth sailing.

Tansingco said that they saw more than 40,000 departures on Wednesday.

The agency also recorded almost 35,000 arrivals on the same day.

Tansingco conducted an inspection of the operations of the BI at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) terminals 1, 2, and 3 and reminded terminal heads to closely monitor queues to ensure efficient processing of passengers.

The BI earlier reported fielding 155 immigration officers as augmentation for the Holy Week, and deploying 36 new immigration officers who recently concluded their training at the Philippine Immigration Academy.

The BI Chief also vowed to improve the services of frontline personnel.

“We have recently conducted a training for supervisors to strengthen their capacities in handling concerns and issues encountered during their tour of duty,” said Tansingco.  “I have instructed our frontliners to conduct our mandate with efficiency and professionalism,” he added.
