BI agents nab notorious Norwegian pedophile

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) announced the arrest of an alleged Norwegian pedophile wanted by authorities in Oslo for sexually molesting minors.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente identified the alien as 53-year-old Alexander Calapini-Solberg, who was arrested last Monday in Brgy. 48-A Cabunggaan, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte by operatives from the Bureau’s fugitive search unit (FSU).

Morente described Solberg as a high-profile fugitive who is wanted in Norway due to a string of sex offense cases that were filed against him in court.

“We are going to deport him for being an undesirable alien. His continued presence in the country poses a serious threat to our Filipino children, anyone of whom could be his next victim,” Morente said in a statement.

The BI Chief said he issued the mission order for Solberg’s arrest at the request of Norwegian authorities, which informed the Bureau that the latter is already an undocumented alien as his passport was already revoked by the Oslo government.

According to BI-FSU Chief Rendel Ryan Sy, an Interpol Red Notice was also issued to Solsberg in December 2021 based on arrest warrants that were issued against him by Folio Og Norde Ostfold District Court in Norway.

His warrant is based on at least four counts of molestation of young children on repeated occasions.

Solsberg is currently detained at the BI Warden Facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig City pending deportation proceedings.

Philippines and China remain ‘friends’ – Lorenzana

Defense Secretary Delfin Lorenzana assured that the Philippines will remain ‘friends’ with China despite territorial issues.

The assurance was made by Lorenzana in conjunction with the turnover of military equipment donations worth P1.05 billion from China’s Ministry of National Defense.

According to Lorenzana, this is just an indication that the Philippines and China remain civil despite the issues.

China also provided assistance by providing P370 million worth of weapons and ammunition during the Marawi seige.

Lorenzana added that they are happy that Marawi is slowly recovering after five years.

“Indeed, there is more we can achieve by working together. As we enter a new cycle in the Chinese Lunar Calendar Year, I wish for prosperity for both our peoples, good health, and mutual respect for our sovereignties,” Lorenzana added.
