A Filipino woman was shot after she ran amok and stabbed three people on Monday afternoon in the city of Brussels.
The 52-year-old’s name has not been released by authorities, but a report on the incident says that the woman was wearing a Muslim type headscarf – authorities say the woman is mentally deranged and believe she is not part of any terroristic plot.
The report says the Filipina women attacked two of her victims while on a bus, the other was inside a restaurant in a shopping mall in Uccle, Brussels.
The woman sat inside the mall on a bench while a group of officers closed in to arrest her. She refused to let go of the knife she used to stab her victims with and attempted to flee the scene – officers shot her outside the mall on the sidewalk.
The report also stated that none of the three victims had any serious or life-threatening injuries from the knife attack.
The suspect was taken to a nearby hospital where she is being treated for a gunshot wound – she is currently under arrest pending a full investigation into the incident.
