Police arrested a barangay volunteer who allegedly uses his frontliner ID to sell illegal drugs in Manila.
According to information provided by Police Captain Philipp Ines, spokesman for Manila Police District Station 4, the suspect was identified as Hajib Cayandatu, 24, a tricycle driver who is a resident of Quiapo.
Authorities arrested him in Barangay 445, Zone 44 in Sampaloc on Tuesday.
Based on the initial investigation, authorities received information about the shabu sale in Sampaloc.
Cayandatu allegedly used his ID to go freely to Sampaloc and sell illegal drugs, according to police.
During the operation, the police recovered eight sachets containing suspected shabu worth P272,000, a black pouch, and buy-bust money of P500 from the suspect.
The suspect will face charges of violating Section 5 (Selling of Dangerous Drugs) and Section 11 (Possession of Dangerous Drugs), Art II of Republic Act No. 9165.
Cayandatu is now under the custody of MPD Station 4.
3 arrested for violating liquor ban in Manila
Three men were arrested after authorities seized 300 bottles of liquor from them during an entrapment operation in Manila.
According to police, they obtained information that someone is smuggling liquor from Makati City to Manila. Authorities blocked the suspect’s SUV carrying 25 boxes of alcohol at Lacson corner Florentino Flores Street, Sampaloc.
According to Police Maj. Rosalino Ibay Jr., the suspects sold the liquor at a higher price.
The suspects were from Tondo, and they are also selling alcohol there.
Liquor bans still exist in Manila to prevent gathering.
They will face violations of the Bayanihan to Heal as One Act and liquor ban ordinance in the city of Manila.

Chinese arrested for smuggled luncheon meat
Manila Police District-Special Mayor’s Reaction Team (SMART) officials arrested a Chinese national after he was caught selling cans of luncheon meat that were prohibited from entering the country due to African Swine Fever, in Binondo, Manila.
The arrested person was identified as Shuangtin Lin, 43, businessman, living in One Wilson Place, Wilson Street, San Juan City.
Authorities seized 20 boxes with 48 pieces of Ma Ling brand and 10 boxes of 48 pieces of Ma Ling brand of pork luncheon meat, a white Honda CRV, an iPhone, and two P1,000 marked money from the suspect.
There has been a temporary ban on the import, distribution, and sale of processed meat products from countries affected by African Swine Fever (ASF) since August 2018. Ma Ling brands are prohibited.
