Atong Ang claims Laguna police chief part of conspiracy against him

Acting Laguna Police Provincial Director Police Colonel Rogarth Campo was accused by gaming entrepreneur Atong Ang on Monday of participating in a conspiracy against him by other online sabong stakeholders.

Ang questioned witnesses from Tanay, Rizal, who delivered evidence on the disappearance of many “sabungeros” at the Senate committee on public order and dangerous narcotics’ third hearing on the missing cockfighting players.

“Bakit laging taga-Tanay ang lumalabas na testigo ngayon e buong PIlipinas ang sumasali sa amin, may mga taga-Mindano, kung saan saan?” Ang said during his presentation at the Senate hearing.

(Why are these witnesses all from Tanay when participants in our derbies come from different parts of the country, even from Mindanao and other parts of the country?)

He then recalled a meeting at his Mandaluyong office with Campo, who was then the director of the National Capital Region Police Office’s Criminal Investigation and Detection Group, the Anti-Cybercrime Unit, and the National Bureau of Investigation.

The conference was reportedly held after Ang’s camp was instructed to write to the CIDG formally requesting police assistance in the probe of alleged “cloning” or duplicating of films from the e-sabong platform to solicit bets from consumers illegally.

Ang claimed that Campo offered to just “abduct” the people involved in the cloning at the meeting.

“Nu’ng kami ay nag-uusap… itong si Col. Rogarth sabi niya ‘Boss, gusto mo dukutin na lang namin e.’ Puwede ninyo siya tanungnin at saka ‘yung NBI andito si Atty. [Emeterio] Dungallo, kaharap ‘yung mga tao ko,” Atong Ang said.

(When we talked, Colonel Rogarth said, “Boss, do you want us just to abduct these persons.” You can ask him as well as the NBI. Atty. Dungallo is here. You can ask him as well as my employees.)

Apart from that, Atong Ang mentioned another incident with Campo in Lipa. The former handed P1 million to a police officer after the latter showed him photos of a structure being built in PNP Laguna.

Ang said he was taken aback when Campo told him he could claim credits for construction infrastructure.
